Welcome, and thank you for visiting my studio website!
My private studio is located in Downtown Edmonton, near the Legislature. I offer weekly instruction for students five years and older. Click on my teaching philosophy page for information on my teaching style and values.
Contact me to receive a complimentary introductory lesson! This gives the student a chance to see if she enjoys my teaching style and it gives myself a chance to get to know the student and assess the aspirations and goals of the student.
Denise Sanche
About Me
Ave Maria University
Bachelor of Music
Pianist, Denise Sanche graduated from Ave Maria University with her Bachelor of Music in 2014 with Honours. She was nominated to perform in the departmental recital in 2011 after an outstanding jury performance. In addition, she took Piano Pedagogy, the study of how to teach piano.
Yamaha
Music Instructor
Denise completed training in the Yamaha Method of Group Piano Instruction in 2015. She incorporates principles she learned into her private piano lessons as well.
Teaching Experience
Music Teacher
Denise has taught private piano lessons and group piano lessons at Dominelli School of Music, Giovanni School of Music, and Mainstreet Music Academy, as well as from her home studio.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is to develop a lifelong love of music and learning in my students. This is achieved by developing my student's independent learning skills, and strong musical and playing skills in a reasonable amount of time. This is also achieved by making the learning process fun and by providing an enjoyable learning environment.
My method of teaching develops well-rounded musicians by incorporating every aspect of good musicianship: the ability to play by ear, the ability to read music, good piano playing technique, the ability to be creative and compose one's own music, and the ability to perform with poise and security so as to better share the beauty and joy of music with others.
Each lesson is structured so that each aspect of good musicianship is incorporated into the lesson. This way the lesson has a variety of activities, all of which are connected and lead to one another. During lessons, a concept is first prepared for in an exercise or activity, before their formal presentation, and then it is reinforced afterwards. This helps to facilitate learning and retention of concepts.
A variety of musical styles are taught, including classical, folk, jazz, and popular repertoire.

Practicing:
Practicing is crucial to progress in the learning of any skill. Minimal practice requirements vary based on student age and ability. I recommend that very young students (ages 5-6) should practice approximately 15 minutes a day in separate increments while other beginners should practice 30 minutes a day.

"Denise has provided piano instruction for my 6 year old son, and 8 year old daughter for seven months. They have progressed in theory and technique at a balanced pace that has been customized to suit the needs of both children with different learning styles and strengths. My children have been motivated to practice their lessons, and had a lot of fun!"
